Servant Leadership Would Make the World a Better Place :: Servant Leadership
In such a corrupt world, there is the need for laws and enforcement of those laws. It is expected that those put in positions to keep those safe, such as politicians, police officers, and firefighters, are actually putting others before themselves, but this is not always the case. Unfortunately, there are many in these types of positions who hold their positions because of gaining income (which is of course of importance) but do not have a strong passion for people. This brings to the case the theory of servant leadership. Northouse (2013) defines servant leadership as emphasizing that leaders be attentive to the concerns of their followers, empathize with them, and nurture them. Those who are truly servant leaders have the best interest of their followers at heart and are able to help them and lift them up, selflessly. Because politicians, police officers, and firefighters are all considered community and national leaders of our country, it is important that those are are put into these positions have characteristics of being a servant leader. Although some may argue that we may not be ââ¬Å"followersâ⬠that does not take away from the leadership impact that they have. Although Northouse (2013) lists 10 characteristics of servant leadership (p. 221), 5 that I feel are of the most important for political and community leaders are stewardship, commitment to the growth of people, listening, empathy, and awareness. Collectively, all of these make the leader aware of their positions, aware of their impact, and ready to commit to the growth of those they are called to lead. In a perfect world, instead of politicians having hidden agendas, there only agenda would be the one they were voted into: leading others and having a positive impact on our communities, states, and country as a whole.

Law Enforcement Innovations in Reaction to The 9/11 Terrorist Attacks a
The terrorist attacks to the World Trade Center towers in New York City on September 11, 2001 has changed the way federal, state and local police departments communicate with each other, their structures, and operations. The new federal organization known as Homeland Security set out to coordinate their work at the state level, collect, analyze and share pertinent information and intelligence, protect key infrastructure and assets, secure the nationââ¬â¢s borders and ports, team up with federal and local task forces, and prepare new response training, equipment, systems and strategies (Foster and Cordner, 2005). The Federal Bureau of Investigation also shifted focus from addressing traditional crimes to preventing terrorist attacks. This is a change in strategy much like the change between the reform and community policing eras (National Research Council, 2004). It would be next to impossible for federal agencies to work directly with local agencies since there are around 18,000 local departments throughout the nation (Foster and Cordner, 2005). Occurrences such as these are the downfall of a decentralized police system, but 9/11 has created more cohesion through the federal, state and local agencies (National Research Council, 2004). This resulted from state agencies that were selected as a liaison between the federal and local law agencies to do business such as disseminating information, sharing resources and asking for assistance (Foster and Cordner, 2005). This centralization makes more levels of administration responsible for strategies and tactics (Kelling and Moore, 1988). State agencies saw a 75.4 percent increase in terrorism related intelligence gathering, analysis and dissemination, 61.3 percent increase in ... ..., 2008; Rush, 2008; Kelling and Moore, 1988). These systems fall into the category of community policing as these campus police departments engage the community in the prevention of crime (Walsh, 2001). 9/11 has placed terrorist prevention in the hands of the local law enforcement agencies and reorganized the systems of law enforcement throughout our country. School shootings such as the massacre at Virginia Tech have heightened the need for security measures that can reach people quickly and on a mass scale. Where we once thought we were safe, now large-scale acts of lawlessness have brought safety and security to the fore. These acts of violence have already changed the strategies of law enforcement. If these changes give any picture of the future strategies and tactics will become more centralized and the community will be engaged to a higher degree.
Human Consciousness Essay -- Technology, ICT
Technological developments assume an integral part of human history. In the recent years, studies indicate that the advances in technology have penetrated into the human way of life thus changing the daily life of people. One area of human life that has been affected by technology is the human consciousness (Halal, 2008). The emergence of new technologies has led to greater impact on the human form of consciousness. It is noted that information, communication and technologies have affected the human consciousness in more profound ways. Studies also indicate that the predominant application and use of technology has led to a change in the human consciousness especially concerning the cognition, sense of self, perception and memory of individuals. This paper seeks to critically analyze the impact of communication, information and technology on these elements of the human consciousness. Studies indicate that consciousness and the mind have been dominated by the modern technology. However, it appears more problematic to understand consciousness and the outstanding issues that surround the effects of technology on the mind. There are numerous theorist and authors who have tired to define the word consciousness based on their disciplines. This paper adopts ray kurzweil definition of what consciousness means. He defined consciousness as a subjective experience that makes human beings to have a sense of self-perception and self awareness. Based on this definition, consciousness implies that consciousness is what determines human survival. Consequently, it can be argued that with the emergence of new technologies, the human survival has undergone tremendous changes that have changed how people feel, imagine, cuture and beliefs, choice, ac... ...d memory which has changed the brain structure where many people use technology memory devices rather than there brains for keeping memory of ideas or experience. This is said to result to degradation of the human memory where individual l cannot remember information because of overreliance on technological memory devices (Elsweiler, Ruthven & Jones, 2007). In sum, impact of technology on consciousness is immense. In both practical and theoretical terms, technology present greater opportunities for development of human consciousness while at the same time remaining a bigger threat to it. Nevertheless, if people have to realize the most benefit from these technologies on development of consciousness, there is need to embrace its positive value while working toward reducing its negative aspects on the development of sense of self, cognition, perception and memory.

Autism: Identification and Characteristics
ââ¬Å"Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and autism are both general terms for a group of complex disorders of brain developmentâ⬠(Unknown, 2013). However, there are multiple definitions of Autism spectrum disorder and autism. The two most accepted definitions are those outlined in IDEA and the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, The IDEA definition of ASD and Autism has these disorders characterized by difficulties in social interaction, verbal and nonverbal communication and academic performance, that can be observed prior to the child turning three years of age. According to the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, these disorders are grouped under Pervasive Developmental Disorder. These disorders include, but are not limited to, autistic disorder, Rett syndrome, childhood disintegrative disorder, and Asperger syndrome (APA, 2000). Characteristics of Autism or ASD include difficulties in language development, ranging from no verbal communication to complex communication, delayed language development, and echolalia. Echolalia is the uncontrollable and immediate repetition of words spoken by another person or sounds in the surrounding environment. It also includes difficulties in Social Development. These difficulties include delays in social interactions and social skills such as, impaired use of nonverbal behavior, lack of peer relationships, failure to spontaneously share enjoyment, interests, and achievements, as well as a Lack of reciprocity. Autism and ASDs are also characterized by repetitive behavior such as obsessions, tics, and perseverations. Those diagnosed with Autism or ASD are also said to display problem behavior such as self-injurious behavior or aggression, a need for environmental predictability, symptoms of sensory and movement disorders, as well as, symptoms of Savant Syndrome. Savant Syndrome is a rare condition in which persons with various developmental disorders, including autistic disorder, have astonishing islands of ability, brilliance or talent in areas such as the fine arts. Many savants are also very good with remembering facts such as phone numbers or birthdays, after only seeing them a few imes. Causes and Prevalence The causes of autism range from different aspects. Some people's perspective about it comes from history which is where the phrase ââ¬Å"refrigerator mothersâ⬠comes from. Refrigerator mothers were women who were emotionally frigid to towards their children, showing their children little to no affection whatsoever. However, in the 1970s, researchers had established that autism is c aused by brain or biochemical dysfunction that occurs before, during, or after birth. Today, parents are not seen as the cause of their child's autism, but as partners with educators when helping solve their child's problems. The biomedical causes show that a child that has a sibling is 10 times more likely to develop autism than a child that does not have any siblings. There also seems to be a connection between environmental factors and genes. Parents also report that they see regression in their child directly following an immunization. But with this being said, parents also see a regression in their unvaccinated children. If a pair of identical twins share the same gene, and one has autism, then 9 out of 10 times, the other twin has autism as well. Researchers believe that the biggest causes of autism are vaccinations, environmental exposures, pesticide exposure, parental age, pharmaceuticals, freeway proximity, and limited prenatal vitamin intake. The prevalence of autism suggests a range from 10 to 60 per 10,000 children. Principles of Effective Instruction and Assessment of Progress There are different kinds of effective instructions in order to help out the child that is diagnosed with Autism. Some of the strategies include keyword, pegword, and letter. Keyword strategies ââ¬Å"teach students to link a keyword to a new word or concept to help them remember the new materialâ⬠(Turnbull, Turnbull, Wehmeyer, ; Shogren, 2013). This allows the Autistic children understand and learn the material a lot easier. Pegword strategy ââ¬Å"helps students remember numbered or ordered information by linking words and numbers that rhymeâ⬠(Turnbull, Turnbull, Wehmeyer, ; Shogren, 2013). This strategy is great for students to visual the objects being represented. The last strategy is the letter strategy ââ¬Å"employs acronyms or a string of letters to help students remember a list of words or concepts. Recalling the acronym helps them recall the list or sequence. â⬠(Turnbull, Turnbull, Wehmeyer, ; Shogren, 2013). ââ¬Å"The Autism Screening Instrument for Educational Planning (ASIEP-2) has five components or subtests that enable educators to evaluate a studentââ¬â¢s capacity across communication, social interactions, behavior, academic content, and other domains. (Turnbull, Turnbull, Wehmeyer, ; Shogren, 2013). The behavior checklist is used as a screening tool to identify the need for further assessment to determine whether the student has autism. (Turnbull, Turnbull, Wehmeyer, ; Shogren, 2013). These assessments can be used at home and during school hours. These methods are very effective for an Autism child. The technology and methods continue to grow and change for this disability. This particular disability has become more prominent within the United States each and every year. Researchers are becoming more and more familiar with Autism allowing those that have it able to have more help. The progress of this disability has rapidly increased as well as the technology for Autism. Family Issues Autism does not only affect the child, but autism also affects the parents of the child as well. Parents or guardians of children with ASD must place their childââ¬â¢s needs as their primary focus. When parents with autistic children put their full attention in being a caregiver to these children sometimes this adds stress on their marriage, other children, finances, and personal relationships and responsibilities. Also when having a child with ASD with siblings there may be some lack of attention for the other children in the family. In saying this, it is the parentââ¬â¢s job to best respond to the need of the family as a whole in able to show an equal amount of love to each child. Transition into Adulthood Children with autism are just like children without autism. They grow up wanting to make something of their lives, wanting to attend college, to get married, have a family, ect. Having autism makes dreams and goals harder, but not impossible. Young adults on the autistic spectrum may qualify academically for college, but may not be able to handle other aspects of college life. Also when it comes to employment also depending on the severity of his or her symptoms many organizations hire extra help for adults with autism and other disabilities for pay in order to help them grow as a person and help to work everyday tasks. Just little things like going to college with the help of an assistant or having a small job helps to better them and help to make their transition into adulthood smoother and simpler. A midsummer nights dream By william shakespeare
Midsummer night's dream is one of the classic romantic comedy plays of William Shakespeare. William Shakespeare is the one of the best writer who ever lived. He deeply looks at the society with a very different perspective. In his play midsummer nightââ¬â¢s dream he has depicted the feelings of love and desire with a very different point of view. Exact year when Midsummer night's dream was written is not known but it is supposed that is written around 1595 or 1596. (William Shakespeare biography and works, 1)In A Midsummer-Night's Dream, for the first time, Shakespeare uses an ââ¬Ëoutside force' which interferes in and controls the affairs of men. Oberon moves unseen, unheard, and unsuspected to the solution of the sole problem of the play (so far as the mortals are concerned) ââ¬â that of restoring Demetrius's love to Helena.Although he differs in form and nature from Shakespeare's later notable forces of control as markedly as they differ from one another, the fairy king i s like them all both in his essential dramatic function and in the attributes which enable him to perform this function ââ¬â superior power and superior awareness.Like the Fate that operates throughout Romeo and Juliet (according to the Prologue) and the Fate of which the witches are the visible figureheads in Macbeth, but unlike Duke Vincentio in Measure for Measure and Prospero in The Tempest, Oberon is supernatural and immortal. Like Vincentio and Prospero, and unlike Fate in the tragedies, he is benevolent. Like Fate itself and unlike the others, he remains always invisible to the mortal participants ââ¬â but, unlike Fate, he is visible to us. Like all the others except the Fate of Romeo and Juliet, he makes observable contact with mortals, either directly or through an intermediary. Also like all the others except the Fate of Romeo and Juliet, he requires special aids or ââ¬Ëprops' in wielding his power.Unlike all the others, he is concerned quite incidentally with th e affairs of mortals. And, finally, he fell a little short of the others' omniscience and omnipotence: under his direction things can temporarily get out of hand. The play is a light entertainment comedy that has three main plots interlinked with each other firstly the celebrations of the wedding of Theseus the Duke of Athens, to Hippolyta, Queen of the Amazons, secondly the mishap created between the couples and the involvement of the fairies in the scenario. The story mainly revolves around the two couples who are in love with each other but a little mistake creates chaos and comedy in the story. (A midsummer nights dream- Wikipedia the free encyclopedia, 1)The play starts with the scene in Athens when four days left in the wedding and the celebrations and preparations are at their peak when Egeus arrives complaining about his daughter Hermia. With him Egeus brings two men Demetrius and Lysander. His problem is that he wants Hermia to marry Demetrius but Hermia is in deep love with Lysander and refuses to marry Demetrius. Her father continuously forces her for the marriage and also threatens her to marry Demetrius or either he will kill her or banish her according to the ancient law for a disobedient daughter. The Duke reminds Hermia of her duty as an obedient daughter to respect her father's wish and marry Demetrius and that she has time till the new moon to make up her mind regarding this matter otherwise the Duke will have to forcefully enforce the ancient law.Hearing this Hermia and Lysander decided to save their love by escaping from Athens into the nearby woods and then getting married in nearby town away from the ancient law. Hermia tells her plan to her best friend Helena who is a babble mouth and had been in love with Demetrius and can do anything to get his affection and love. She spills the plan of Hermia's escape in front of Demetrius and hope that they can catch Hermia and Lysander in the forest. (A midsummer night's dream, 1)In the forest the King of Fairies Oberon and the Queen of fairies Titania are having a quarrel about an Indian orphan boy that who will have the boy. The king wants the boy as his servant where as the queen is not allowing him demanding that she will keep the boy. (A midsummer night's dream, 1)Desperate to have the boy the king orders his most faithful fairy Puck to go and search for the magic flower, whose juice when dropped on some oneââ¬â¢s eyes the person will fall in love immediately with the first person he sees after waking.Oberon had the plans in his mind that Titania will fall in love with anybody she sees and in return he will get the boy for himself. Puck brings the flower and puts the juice in the eyes of the sleeping Queen. The tradesmen in Athens plan to perform a crude play about Pyramus and Thisbe at the wedding of The DukeThe troupe of the players that are going to perform the play includes Nick Bottom who is a weaver and thinks he is very much clever and efficient that the role heâ⠬â¢s playing will make the play a big hit but his fellows do not think so they decide to go and rehearse in the woods.

Largest Landfill in the World Soon going to the will no longer be a vacation option unless you do not plan to swim. There will probably be a huge amount of plastic and trash in the water. This is due to the Pacific trash vortex. All of the plastic that has accumulated over the years had either eended up in a landfill or in the ocean. It is however, more likely that the trash has ended up in the ocean. Trash that people just toss in the water ends up in the ocean. Americans fail to realize that bodies of water connect to larger bodies of water which eventually leads to that onee fun special vacation spot.A trash vortex is a big lanfill of garbage and plastic that ends up in the water. It is also known as a garbage patch. Sometimes the vortex is hard to see because the materials sink down to the bottom of the ocean floor. There has been much more garbage placed in the ocean than most people realize. Until you actually research this understanding how much trash ends up in the ocean is n ot possible. ââ¬Å"Because of its durability and our increased use in recent decades, scientists estimate that plastic makes up 60 to 80 percent of marine debris worldwide. ( ââ¬Å"Trashing the Ocean. ââ¬Å") This essay will further summarize what the pacific trash vortex is, describe the impacts the trash vortex has on the environment, talk about some of the biggest controvesies around this issue, and give my point of views on the issue. A trash vortex is a large area of garbage in the ocean. This area of garbage in the ocean takes up a large amount of space in the ocean. ââ¬Å" It is roughly the size of Texas, containing approximately 3. 5 million tons of trash. ââ¬Å" (ââ¬Å"Trashing the Oceanâ⬠). This area is so very large that it can not be hidden.Sometimes the materials just float, but then there are several types of materials that sink into the water and are not very visible by humans. ââ¬Å"The expedition easily spotted some types of plastic. But a larger problem may lurk below the surface. â⬠(ââ¬Å"Giant Ocean-Trash Vortex Documented-A First 5). Most of the trash that has been found in the ocean are things such as plastic bottles, plastic bags, old household materials, etc. There is more than just one trash vortex around the world. ââ¬Å"The Pacific Vortex isnââ¬â¢t the only one.The Atlantic and Indian ocean, which have different current patterns, have plastic gyres of their ownâ⬠(Walsh, Bryan 1). About ten percent of all the plastic produced in the world ends up in the ocean. ââ¬Å" Perhaps ten percent of the two hundred and sixty million tons of plastic produced worldwide each year end up in the sea-much of it in the swirling currents of the North Pacific Gyre and other ocean vortices. ( ââ¬Å"Giant Ocean- Trash Vortex Documented-A first 2) Plastic can not be broken down so if there is nothing done about it over a period of time the ocean will just accumulate more plastic. Most of our waste today is comprised of plastic. Plastic, which is made from petroleum, is a material that the Earth cannot digest. Every bit of plastic that has ever been created still exists. ââ¬Å" (ââ¬Å"Trashing the Ocean. ââ¬Å") If there is more plastic accumulated there will be more animals in the ocean that die. No one knows exactly when trash started becoming a problem in the ocean or why it became a problem. The trash vortex has been known to kill several animals in the ocean. The trash gets into the ocean a few ways. One of the ways that the trash gets into the ocean is by people throwing trash on land and the rain washing it into things such as sewers. There are several different sizes of garbage that have been thrown in the ocean. ââ¬Å"A single one litre drinks bottle could break down into enough small fragments to put one on every mile of beach in the entire world. These smaller particles are joined by the small pellets of plastic which are the form in which many new plastics are marketed and which can be lost at sea by the drum load or even a whole container load. (ââ¬Å"The Trash Vortexâ⬠). Not all of the things that are thrown in the ocean are large. ââ¬Å"While large pieces are common, the garbage patch is not an island of plastic, the team found on their 19-day expedition in August. Much of the debris is in the form of countless thumbnail-size scraps. â⬠( ââ¬Å"Giant Ocean- Trash Vortex Documented-A firstâ⬠1) Sewers and rivers all lead to the ocean. All the garbage that ends up in the sewers eventually end up into the ocean. Another way that garbage ends up in the ocean is by us directly throwing things into the water. The trash vortex has a very unknown impact on the community. There is an unknown impact on the community because not many people know that all this trash exists in the ocean. Some of the people that know the trash vortex exist do what they can to help stop the issue. The trash vortex has a very negative impact on its environment. All the garbage in the ocean has killed several marine animals. Birds are dying because they are mistaking the trash in the ocean for food and an animal can not digest plastic materials. So this leads to the death of several marine animals such as birds and turtles. It has become such an issue to the point where there may not be many marine animals if there is more plastic put into the ocean ââ¬Å"In the ocean, plastic waste accumulates in swirling seas of debris, where plastic to sea life ratios are 6:1; where birds and mammals are dying of starvation and dehydration with bellies full of plastics; where fish are ingesting toxins at such a rate that soon they will no longer be safe to eat. ââ¬Å" (ââ¬Å"Garbage Patch. ââ¬Å") There has also been an issue with the plastic because of an essiential organic compound called zooplankton. They have been finding more trash in the ocean than zooplankton and that is not good because zooplankton is essential to the ecosystem. Zooplankton are little tiny organisms that are important because they feed the animals in the water. Algae is a type of zooplankton. The trash in the water has also been known to absorb organic pollutants which are there for a reason. When they are gone it will be hard to acquire more. People will not realize the full effects that this issue has until it becomes a very severe problem and leads to the death of many marine animals. It can also become a severe problem by effecting the way we have a great time at the beach or on a river trip. The trash vortex in the Pacific ocean is a big issue mainly because it is starting to be a lot more trash than is needed. Trash in the ocean can not be broken down and it does not decompose. ââ¬Å"The very thing that makes plastic items useful to consumers, their durability and stability, also makes them a problem in marine environments. â⬠(ââ¬Å"The Trash Vortexâ⬠). That means that the animals that eat the trash will eventually die. That also means that the number of marine animals will decrease tremendously. That also means that the trash will begin to pile up worse than it is now. That can also affect our water supply because the water we drink on a daily has to come from somewhere. Our water has to be kept clean or it could become a problem to the environment around us and the ecosystem. I believe that this issue does not have to stay an issue. The trash vortex can be handled over a period of time if we all work together to take care of the water. If we clean up and recycle more the garbage patch will not be as big as it is now. The things we can do from our location are make sure that others recycle more and to make sure that we do not become apart of the issue by throwing things in bodies if water. There are a few organizations that try to help by going to some of these areas and cleaning up the land around them. It is not easy to clean up once the plastic has drifted to the bottom of the ocean floor. The issue has not become a huge problem yet, b ut people have not begun to look at the long terms affects to the environment. If the issue does not stop I feel that it will most certainly become a problem. It will have a negative effect on the marine animals. It is very possible that if the problem does not get any better that we could possibly be looking at some future endangered species. In conclusion, there are so many unknown things floating in the ocean you will be amazed at what people find floating in the ocean ââ¬Å"shoes, toys, bags, pacifiers, wrappers, toothbrushes, and bottles too numerous to count are only part of what can be found in this accidental dump floating midway between Hawaii and San Francisco. (ââ¬Å"Trashing the Ocean. â⬠). The Pacific trash vortex is still an unknown mystery. There are still things that scientist can not figure out about this garbage patch they are actually still trying to figure out all the details. ââ¬Å"Researchers are keen to learn how the massive influx of plastic pieces in recent decades affects area animals from larger creatures such as fish and birds- which swallow toxic plastic- to tiny organisms such as bacteria and plankton. This plastic may also be hosting invasive bacteria or other species researchers sayâ⬠( ââ¬Å"Giant Ocean-Trash Vortex Documented- A First 3). Trash vortex have been slowly killing birds and other types of animals. This is something that needs to be stopped as soon as possible if we want to help save our animals and our land. Everyone can help in the process whether it is realized or not. The land is something that should not be taken for granted. If we want future generations to have a land then it is our job to protect the land.Work Cited ââ¬Å"Garbage Patch. â⬠Think Beyond Plastic. ââ¬Å"Giant Ocean- Trash Vortex Documented -A First. â⬠National Geographic News. 28 Oct 2010 ââ¬Å"Planet100: The Pacific Trash Vortex Explained. â⬠Online Posting. Democracy in China Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1500 words
Democracy in China - Essay Example As Chinese 'media' and 'democracy' are interlinked in a single framework, people expects from media to wake up democracy in China, not the vice versa. It is through the wide contribution of picky media that today has made it possible to at least speak in favour of self-contained civil societies and public spheres in China. With these issues unresolved, and with market economics and representative democracy only partially institutionalised, Chinese Government has detected that socialism and fascism in today's era would not be taken as alternative models for modern society. A society which is media driven and can be scanned as long as it is 'Chinese local media'. But to the extent where Chinese Government enters the boundaries of International scrutiny, capitalist democracy in both the economic and political spheres is unable to acquire superiority. However, the efforts on part of the Government could be on its way showing fascism along with its military failure and all the inefficiencies of state socialism and authoritarian tendencies can be put in the court of Chinese Government. Media currently is playing hide and seek with the Chinese democracy where on seeking any possibility of democratic revival, International media would consider it a genius. ... y which has opened some new ways for building up a better image of democracy among the International media relations, International Media can help in protesting to social inequalities. Since this issue is the main obstruction in reviving a democratic China, therefore media can juxtapose 'social construction' in awakening democracy. These inequalities require a foreign body to predict reality on the basis of racial differences (Vhang et al, 1998). The foreign media can utilise this little opportunity from behalf of the Chinese government to make the Chinese public understand the responsibility to deliver a 'new' generation. A generation free from social inequalities and injustice. This would serve as the first step towards a democratic Government. International media can turn Chinese educational centers into 'revolutionary centers' as long as differences exists between yellow race and Koreans and Chinese who pour into schools from deprived and shabby homes quickly amaze with their high IQ scores. Such a social construction would serve as an injection at the ground root level where media would not only infuse equality among the public which would ultimately lead to democratise China but also would be helpful to develop a society where there would be no hard and fast social class differences among the citizenry. This message of equality from the international media would change the thinking of at least the younger generation, and on the basis of such equality democracy would be strengthened in China. From the local community 'town meetings', to the media of discussion and questioning, when all the racial and social differences would be alleviated the outcome would be finally into the great halls of the legislatures, the courts , the executive departments for prudent
